Most of us are familiar with this symbol of the inverted cross. A lot of “atheists” adorn their blogs with this sign. In fact, you can even buy jewelry and t shirts with this symbol on it at places like Urban Outfitters or Hot Topic.
What’s funny to me is that most people don’t even know what the true meaning is. Most people think that it’s some sort of sign for Satan or anti-christianity.
this is not true.
Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, dedicated his entire life to spreading the Gospel and was martyred for it. However when he was being executed, he requested that he be crucified upside down because He thought he was unworthy of dying the same death as Jesus did.
If you don’t get it, people are pretty much just glorifying Jesus even more when they put this sign on their blog/body. What they’re unknowingly saying is that they agree with Peter in that they are unworthy in comparison to Jesus.
Some people would argue that because Jesus called Peter out and said “get behind me, satan” that THIS is why this symbol is used to represent Satan. However this is also really kind of a lame excuse because Jesus did not mean this literally. He was comparing Peter’s mindset to Satan’s because Peter was trying to rebuke Jesus.
the more you know.

I just want to face palm myself! How dumb am I?!
I can’t believe that all of this time I thought that Jesus PHYSICALLY died for my sins and he REALLY did wash them away. Oh, also I can’t believe I ever thought Jesus was actually God in man form.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Next time I pray to metaphorical Jesus I’ll metaphorically thank him for metaphorically saving me from metaphorical hell.
Yup.

OKAY
this is not going to have much structure or sense to it, seeing as it is 330am right now.
but you know what REALLY pisses me off?!
when 16 and 17 year olds kids think they automatically know everything about Christianity because they heard some angry old man spout about how bad religion is.
if you’re insulting religion—-specifically Christianity and you most likely have no freakin clue what you’re talking about.
these people assume they know everything about the bible when they haven’t even read it and/or don’t know CRAP about the context, history, and PROOF of the bible.
there is so much more to the bible/god than what people think they know.
Arguments like ” you can’t prove God is real because i mean like it’s not like we were like there and like why is there evil and like okay blah blah blah”
most people who claim to be educated about God/the bible are really just very, very ignorant on the topic and are too blinded to see that they DON’T HAVE ALL THE FREAKIN ANSWERS TO CHRISTIANITY.
Hey here’s a tip: READ THE BIBLE BEFORE YOU BASH IT. And even beforehand, do some research on the context of the book you’re reading, the historical evidence, and whether or not the author of the passage meant it metaphorically or literally.
okay?
okay.
and another thing:
just because I believe that there is a God who created the world does NOT make me stupid, naive, or dumb in any way. Trust me. I have questioned and questioned my faith and EVERY TIME I have been answered sufficiently.and I still have so so so so much more to learn.

one of my small group girls said this and it just made me so proud.

Your math text is just a book.
Every book in the Library is just a book.
The Bible is what changed my life forever.
& it can change yours too if you just gave it a chance instead of labeling it as just a book.

one of the biggest misconceptions that Christians have about God is that ” he will never give us anything we can’t handle.”
The verse most people talk about is talking about temptation, not trial.
-I Corinthians 10:13
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. “
Let’s get this straight, okay? God is never the author of anything tragic or heartbreaking that happens to us. God already knows that we absolutely CANNOT go through this life on our own; hence Jesus. So, this quote that “God will never give us anything too much to handle” is only “true” because God will not give us the trials, but guess what will: LIFE.
Also, this quote is indicating that we can make it on our own strength, which is obviously contrary to everything the word of God states.
People make mistakes. People get sick. Peoples hearts get broken.
Does that mean God let that happen to us?
Nope! Listen, Jesus said WHEN trials come, not if they do. It’s a part of living on a planet full of messed up, sinful nature….we get hurt. Nobody is perfect.
so when we’re going through trials that we feel like we can’t handle, let’s not question why God did this to us, because HE’S not the one doing it.
Although God would rather not see you suffer, he’d also love it if you trusted him instead of blaming him.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
This doesn’t mean that God purposefully makes bad things happen for our good, but he takes the unfortunate events that happen to us due to HUMAN NATURE and works them for OUR GOOD. In many cases, to be closer to Jesus.
So.
I know this is really rough and scattered, but I had to say it.
